Why women are not employed as chef in most Indian restaurants?

-by Dr. P. S. Chowdhury

In the edge of 21st century, the concept of women empowerment observed its actual success among different fields, all over the world. India also did observe a part of their success. However, the amount of success we observed in India is as similar as a cup of water which has been purified from a sea, till now! Yes the bitter truth is: we still have dowry systems in different states, we still have states where girls are killed (even before they could see the world)!

However, that does not mean that corporate world is fully against the suppression of women empowerment! Even in the metro cities, we observe a lot of examples of gender discrimination in different corporate areas. And a measurable percentage of the rest part, rather abuses women in the name of their company policies.

Coming to the point of discussion, lets first accept the fact that: yes, we have a very low female to male ratio as chefs in different Indian restaurants. The main cause they give as excuse is that women are not physically fit to take responsibility of high load in a large kitchen (perhaps they forgot how women were exploited in kitchen decades ago, or may be they don't accept that Mary Kom is a lot physically fit than any of them!)

Women are a lot well organised than men. Besides, they possesses better face of humanity than men which are in support of the company's reputation! And the art of cooking? Come on bro! How many of you can cook a traditional and delicious dish out of a kitchen full of scraps! Yes, women can do it! So men, let's not show our hilarious attitude against women and say "we can do this and this and this and bla bla!". Time has come accept the truth!
